Hot and humid this weekend with storm chances
Aug 14, 2026
Tonight stays warm and muggy across the area, with temperatures only easing back into the 70s. It will be a quiet night for most, but a few clouds will linger as we head into the overnight hours.
As we move into tomorrow, the heat quickly takes over again. Temperatures will climb into the mid
to upper 90s, and with the humidity factored in, it will feel even hotter. A few thunderstorms could bubble up during the afternoon, but don’t expect widespread rain. Most of us will stay dry, and even where a storm does pop up, it won’t do much to knock down the overall heat. Storm prediction center has issued a level 2 out of 5. Storm will go from 2pm through 10pm.
The storms that do develop could be on the stronger side, mainly because of the amount of heat and moisture in the atmosphere. We’re watching for bursts of heavy rain, frequent lightning and gusty winds. These will be hit-or-miss, so one neighborhood could get a downpour while another stays completely dry.
And unfortunately, the heat isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. This hot and humid pattern is expected to stick around into next week, with more afternoons in the 90s and only isolated chances for storms. So even if you get a quick shower or thunderstorm, don’t expect a major cool-down. The big story remains the heat, humidity and very warm nights.
