Aug 13, 2026
Students and staff at a Philadelphia high school will be relocating to a different building for the start of the new school year after crews found asbestos, according to the school district.
Crews were working to install a new HVAC system at Kensington High School when they found an issue involv

This is now forcing the district to have students and staff start their 2026-2027 school year at the now vacant Austin-Meehan Middle School, officials said.
School leadership said that they will be sharing more information about the schedule and transportation for this temporary building soon.
The school community is expected to return to Kensington High School in January.
