(WCIV) — Authorities have arrested the second suspect wanted in connection with the fatal bus stop shooting of Jomiltron Sentell Fair Jr., a 17-year-old Gaffney High School student. Keveon Ken’Dre Covington, 18, was taken into custody Thursday afternoon following a search involving dozens of l aw enforcement officers, drones and helicopters. Authorities said Covington fled when officers attempted to locate him earlier in the day. Covington is the second arrest in the case after 17-year-old Reginald Louis Barnes Jr. was arrested and charged earlier Thursday in the shooting that killed Jomiltron Sentell Fair Jr., a 17-year-old Gaffney High School student. The report from police on the incident states that Fair had walked from his apartment to a bus stop in the 500 block of West Rutledge Avenue around 6:49 a.m. when a man approached him. After a brief altercation, the man reportedly shot Fair, killing him at the scene as he was boarding the school bus in front of 15 other students who were already on the bus. Surveillance video from the school bus captured the shooter running to a waiting car driven by another person, authorities said. Barnes Jr. was booked into the Cherokee County Detention Center, and a bond court hearing is scheduled for today at 4 p.m. Categories: Local News, News, State ...read more read less
