INDIANAPOLIS (WRTV) A man is facing charges after police say he stabbed his nephew at the Indiana State Fair on Saturday.The charges stem from an incident that happened just before 10:30 p.m. at a food both near the Coliseum, w here two people were working for a third party venue.According to the Indiana State Police, witnesses saw Steven Mimms, 37, grab a box cutter used to shuck corn from a nearby table and stab his nephew in the shoulder with it.After that, they say Mimms fled the scene only to be caught by police later on hiding in the attic of a residence on the near-east side.Mimms was currently on home detention for a pending domestic battery case in Marion County. A review of the case showed that a judge had recently denied Mimmss request to have his GPS tracker removed.When he was taken to the Marion County Jail, officers say Mimms antagonized them and later coughed and spit in the officers faces.In a Thursday morning news release, Marion County Prosecutor Ryan Mears announced Mimms is charged with attempted murder, battery, intimidation and resisting law enforcementThe Indiana State Fair should be a place where Hoosiers come together, enjoy time with their families and celebrate our community.
