A 5-week-old girl suffered skull fractures and other broken bones, injuries prosecutors allege were inflicted by her parents, according to court documents obtained by the NBC10 Investigators. Philadelphia police arrested Tyrone Jones, 22, and Secret McCleve-Sar, 21, both of Philadelphia, on Sunda y, Aug. 9. The arrests followed a manhunt for the couple after their infant was removed from the hospital on Friday, Aug. 7, without a medical release, police said. Secret McCleve-Sar (left), Tyrone Jones (right). Police initially described the child as 7 weeks old, but court documents indicate she was 5 weeks old at the time of her parents’ arrest. Court documents describe her injuries as “serious,” including fractures to her skull, orbital bone, ribs and ankles. The infant was first taken to Jefferson Hospital, where medical professionals recommended she be transferred to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, police said. After arriving at CHOP, doctors recommended she be admitted, but her father removed her from the hospital without a medical release, police said. Jones and McCleve-Sar are accused of removing the child from the hospital against medical and DHS instructions and preventing “emergent life-saving care,” according to the documents. Both face charges including aggravated assault, kidnapping, conspiracy and endangering the welfare of a child. NBC10 was outside a home near East Penn and Magnolia streets in Northwest Philadelphia around 5 p.m. Saturday and observed officers there in connection with the case. Documents indicate that the couple’s last known address was associated with the property. The infant remained hospitalized as of Tuesday, officials said. During their initial court appearances Sunday, a judge set bail at $1 million for each defendant. Court records show prosecutors requested that amount. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 19. Both Jones and McCleve-Sar remained in custody as of Tuesday. Attorneys listed for Jones and McCleve-Sar did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
