Marcus’ 4 a.m. Monday forecast INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Central Indiana is bracing for multiple rounds of severe storms and stifling heat through at least Wednesday night. Today: Severe storms and oppressive heat will settle over central Indiana through midweek. We are tracking damagi ng winds and the risk of flash flooding as our main weather threats, especially in northeast Indiana and along the I-74 corridor. Highs today will hit the mid 80s to low 90s, with feels like temps over 100°. The severe weather threat is highest for communities along I-74 and points north. Damaging winds will be the primary concern, with some isolated hail and a possible tornado. Tonight: Temperatures will only dip to the upper 60s and low 70s, staying warm and muggy overnight. Tuesday – Wednesday: We will look for organized severe clusters to develop, bringing damaging winds and heavy rainfall to the region. High temperatures will remain in the mid 80s to low 90s both days. Widespread rain showers and thunderstorms will persist, with the highest chance along and north of I-70. Localized flooding and gusty winds are possible during any strong storms. Thursday: We’ll get a brief break from the storms and humidity. Conditions should be drier and a little less oppressive, giving a short reprieve before the weekend heat and humidity return. Lingering showers are possible, especially early in the day, as we transition to a milder easterly flow. Highs will be slightly cooler, settling into the 80s.
