The summer continues, and so does parade season, with the next one right around the corner. Sixth Avenue will be ablaze with the colors of the Dominican flag as the 44th annual New York City Dominican Day Parade returns this Sunday, August 9. Starting at 11 a.m., the event will bring the joy of Q uisqueya to the Avenue of the Americas. This year’s theme is “Identity and Culture,” and several prominent Dominican figures will be recognized. Among the parade’s stars are Shino Aguakate and Lizbel Ortiz, and the parade king will be media personality and radio host Frederick Martínez (“El Pachá”). This year’s Grand Marshal will be Dr. Ramón Tallaj of SOMOS Community Care, and a legacy award will be presented to Goya Foods. The parade will take place on Sunday, August 9, starting at 11 a.m. The parade will take place along Sixth Avenue, from 37th Street to 55th Street.
