Jane Germain Credit: Courtesy Jane M. Germain of Colchester, Vt., passed away on July 31, 2026 in Colchester. Jane was born in Winooski, Vt., to Henry and Emma (Bouffard) Hebert on January 7, 1935. She attended Saint Francis Xavier Schools in Winooski and Cathedral High School in Burlington a nd graduated from Jeanne Mance School of Nursing. She worked as a nurse at the University of Vermont Medical Center for many years. Jane married Maurice Germain on September 21, 1972, in Saint Francis Xavier Church in Winooski. She, with her husband, started a marina on Malletts Bay named the Moorings, which they owned for 43 years. During this period, she was involved with the development of the marina as well as recreational boating. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Clement and John Hebert; sister, Theresa Quintin; and sisters-in-law, Cecile Leblanc and Jeannine Germain. Jane is survived by her husband, Maurice Germain; and by several nephews and nieces: Michael, Lisa, Richard and Mona Leblanc, all of Canada; John Hebert of Hinesburg, Vt.; and Laurie Lowy of Bristol, Vt. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, 11 a.m., at Saint Francis Xavier Church in Winooski. Burial will follow at Saint Francis Xavier Cemetery.
