The Dallas Police Department and federal partners held a press conference on Monday to provide an overview of the public safety operations and enforcement efforts conducted during the 2026 FIFA World Cup in June and July. The briefing highlighted crime reduction strategies, enhanced patrol visibi lity, targeted enforcement initiatives, and community engagement efforts implemented during the tournament. Chief Daniel Comeaux was joined by federal partners, who also addressed the World Cup safety operations. During the press conference, Dallas police spokesperson Allison Hudson said the department documented 83 FIFA-related incident reports. Dallas police also highlighted two enforcement initiatives: Operation Uptown Downtown and Operation Safe Streets. According to Sgt. Sheldon Smith, Operation Uptown Downtown ran from June 1 through July 15 and targeted Deep Ellum, the Central Business District and Uptown. Smith said the operation resulted in 218 criminal arrest charges in Deep Ellum, 465 criminal arrest charges in the Central Business District and 42 criminal arrest charges in Uptown. Sean Malecha, acting U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Texas, said law enforcement arrested 35 violent fugitives during Operation Uptown Downtown. Authorities also highlighted the success of Operation Safe Streets, which targeted sex trafficking and prostitution-related criminal activity. “One of the primary focuses of Operation Safe Streets was reducing the demand that fuels prostitution and human trafficking by targeting the buyers,” Major Aarin Harrell of the Special Investigations Division said. “Between May 20 and July 20, we conducted 13 enforcement operations across the entire City of Dallas, resulting in 335 arrests for solicitation of prostitution. Our largest single operation led to 50 arrests in one day,” Harrell said.
