FISHERS, Ind. (WRTV) Two organizations representing different sides of the illegal immigration debate each held events in Central Indiana Saturday. The events held by Save Heritage Indiana and Fishers Resists not only had differ
ent ideologies behind them, but were arranged differently one loud and public, the other held in secret, with a location disclosed only to invitees.Fishers Resists held a Hoosier Hospitality March Saturday afternoon. It began at Holland Park before demonstrators walked a mile to the Fishers Municipal Center. There, guests spoke against ICE and Trump-era immigration policies. Attendance was estimated by one organizer at more than 1,000.Even if someone is here and they are undocumented, we dont have to treat them like animals. Theyre humans too, Josh Lowry, Chair, Hamilton County Democratic Party said. That event was held in response to another rally being held Saturday at the Save Heritage Indiana rally. Former U.S. Border Patrol commander-at-large Gregory Bovino had been announced as the events keynote speaker. Organizer Daniel Poynter did not reveal the events location before it occurred. Poynter said the rally sold out and also said he viewed it as an opportunity to direct history. The country could break apart because we dont have a center or our centers very weak, Poynter said. Ultimately we want an immigration moratorium like we had in the 1920s and in addition to that, we want mass deportations of everyone here illegally tens of millions of people.Poynter said video of the Save Heritage Indiana rally will be released in the coming days.
