COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO) —  The Columbia Police Department advises motorists that Elmwood Avenue is closed between Park Street and Main Street. Additionally, Assembly Street is closed from Calhoun Street to Elmwood Avenue as Dominion Energy and City of Columbia Public Works crews respond to and r epair the affected area. Current Road Closures: Elmwood Avenue: Park Street to Main Street Assembly Street: Calhoun Street to Elmwood Avenue Traffic Detour: Motorists are being rerouted via Calhoun Street. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes to reduce congestion and allow repair crews to work safely. At this time, repairs are expected to take approximately 8 to 12 hours or longer, depending on conditions. The City of Columbia and the Columbia Police Department say they appreciate the public’s patience and cooperation as crews work to restore the area safely.
