Multiple Ghirardelli employees entered the final day of their three-day strike in San Francisco. The Original Ghirardelli Ice Cream Chocolate Store in Ghirardelli Square, San Francisco, closed on Thursday after its employees began their three day strike. The strike was organized by UNITE HERE Local 2, who says workers are accusing the company of failing to disclose how much revenue is generated from a 6% healthcare surcharge charged to customers. The employees are also protesting for changes to their healthcare coverage. According to the union, the shop has reopened using temporary replacement workers. Ghirardelli says it “values and respects” its employees and is engaged in active contract negotiations.
