Three people died Friday in a head-on crash on a rural highway outside Vacaville, according to the California Highway Patrol. The collision happened at about 6:35 a.m. on Highway 113, just north of Hay Road, the CHP said. Citing a preliminary investigation and witness statements, the CHP said the driver of a red GMC pickup truck reportedly was overtaking other vehicles at a high rate of speed when they crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed head-on into a gray Ram pickup truck. The driver and passenger in the GMC pickup truck and the driver of the Ram pickup truck all died at the scene, the CHP said.
