St. Joseph historic neighborhood celebrating national night out INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Get an opportunity to connect with first responders in Indianapolis at the St. Joseph Historical Neighborhood National Night Out celebration on Aug. 4. Charlie Wylonis, the vice president of St. Joseph Hi storic Neighborhood, and Ben Langebartels, also with the neighborhood, joined News 8 at “Daybreak” to share how community members can get involved and form connections with first responders. “It’s a national event. Besides just being a way to bring all the neighbors in a specific neighborhood together in the local businesses and recognize who your neighbors are, it allows us to actually meet our first responders in person,” said Wylonis. Langebartels said that events like these help bring neighbors together in a world where everything is moving quickly. He said that he loves to being the community together and help form connections between them and first responders. Many of the local businesses come together to donate either food or gifts to be given out to the people who come, Wylonis says. “We get a permit and we block off the street like the block parties of old,” said Wylonis. The National Night Out celebration is from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 4 on 10th Street between Alabama street and Huston Street.
