Over a dozen homes are without water on Thursday afternoon after a water main break, according to a spokesperson with the Philadelphia Water Department. The main broke near the intersection of 18th and Wingohocking streets in North Philadelphia on July 30, officials said. Water department of ficials explained that they needed to shut off water services to 18 homes as crews work to fix the main. SkyForce10 was over the scene where a large hole was visible in the road that was filled with water. The Philadelphia Water Department repaired more than 300 water main breaks during the first two quarters of this fiscal year, according to the most recent city manager’s report. That report shows that the number of breaks in the city increased significantly between fiscal year 2024 and 2025 when PWD repaired nearly 1,000 breaks around the city, which is up 46% compared to the year prior.
