Lincoln Police Cruiser (Jeff Motz/KFOR News)Siidi Adan (Courtesy of Lancaster County Corrections) LINCOLN–(KFOR July 29)–Three teens from Omaha have been captured following a string of larcenies at some Lincoln businesses on Tuesday. Lincoln Police public information manager Erika Thomas says of ficers were called around 8:30pm Tuesday to the Target store off of 48th and “R” for a larceny in progress, where loss prevention reported four teenagers had taken iPads from a secure case and hid them in backpacks. As officers arrived, the suspects ran out of the front of the store and ditched the backpacks in the parking lot. Thomas says officers soon caught up with two suspects near 46th and “R”, while a third was taken into custody a short time later and a fourth suspect got away. Inside the backpacks were 17 stolen iPads for a value of more than $14,000. Thomas says officers determined that the teens tried to exchange fake currency at Super Saver off of 48th and “O” Street about 10 minutes prior. One exchanged fake $50 bills for $700 in real cash. The three were also responsible for stealing more than $3,200 worth of Nike clothing from Dick’s Sporting Goods at Gateway Mall around 8pm Tuesday One of the suspects, 18-year-old Siidi Adan of Omaha, was arrested and put in the Lancaster County Jail for theft by shoplifting over $5,000, first-degree forgery, theft by shoplifting between $1,500 and $5,000, along with obstructing a peace officer. Two others, a 16-year-old and 17-year-old both from Omaha, were referred for the Youth Services Center for two of the same offenses related to shoplifting, but were also referred for attempted first-degree forgery. The fourth suspect is still wanted.
