Luggage piled up at Terminal C at the Philadelphia International Airport on Wednesday morning after American Airlines saw delays and temporarily halted flights due to weather and technology issues the day before. Early Wednesday, piles of unattended luggage could be seen in areas for American Air lines as the airport in South Philly after, city officials said, there were 347 delays and 234 flight cancelations at the airport on Tuesday. Many of these cancelations and delays were due to Tuesday’s storms, officials said. But, on Tuesday, American Airlines was hit with technology issues that led to a ground stop for that airline’s flights for much of the day. “A technology issue briefly impacted connectivity for some of our systems on Tuesday evening. Systems are coming back online now and flights are departing again. We put a temporary ground stop in place while our teams worked to resolve the issue. We apologize to our customers for the inconvenience,” an American Airlines said in a statement sent to NBC10 at about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday after flights resumed. Officials with the city’s Department of Aviation said Tuesday’s storms caused weather issues at airports from Boston to Washington D.C. and a ground stop for arrivals at the Philadelphia International Airport was in place until 10:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening.
