The Park City Police Department continues to encounter issues involving drivers in the Main Street core, including cases of vehicles stopping in a travel lane on the street. Main Street has appeared busy this summer and the crowds continued to arrive as the state celebrated Pioneer Day last week . There are regular backups on Main Street during busy tourism times, with issues seen as the summertime crowds arrived. In some cases, drivers, including those carrying rideshare passengers, stop to pick up or drop off passengers on Main Street. That can lead to backups as it becomes difficult for drivers to navigate around a stopped vehicle. It is often not clear from public police logs whether drivers receive warnings or tickets, but the Police Department is believed to issue warnings in many cases unless the person is a repeat offender or a suspected violation is deemed to be egregious. Some of the recent cases: On July 24 — Pioneer Day — at 5:59 p.m., an officer stopped a driver who was reportedly seen parking on the road on Main Street picking up rideshare customers. On July 24 at 5:49 p.m., a driver was stopped in the area of the Main Street-Heber Avenue intersection after an officer saw the vehicle stop on Main Street to allow passengers to enter. On July 23 at 5:50 p.m., a driver was stopped on Main Street after an officer watched the person pick up customers for a rideshare. Public police logs indicated the vehicle impeded traffic. There were also a series of cases involving vehicles left at a red curb. The issues included locations on Main Street.
