***Editor's note: This article was written prior to the severe weather event.***More than 70,000 We Energies customers are without power Monday morning.Prior to the severe weather that swept through much of southeast Wisconsin M onday morning, nearly all of the outages had been concentrated in Milwaukee County. We Energies respondsPrior to the severe weather, Brendan Conway, a spokesperson for We Eneries, spoke with TMJ4 and said crews, engineers and command center staff have been working on the outage since it began around 5 a.m."We had an issue in the substation here, our Feebrand substation that caused the outage this morning," Conway said. "We don't know exactly what caused the equipment issue, but because this substation serves basically most of this neighborhood that caused this large outage."Conway said that the outage is affecting two primary feeder lines that serve large groups of customers in the area surrounding the substation."It's two of those larger lines, two of our what we call feeder lines, our primary feeder lines. That's what's been impacted," Conway said.He added that the utility is pursuing two goals simultaneously: identifying the root cause of the equipment failure and finding a way to restore power in the meantime.We Energies provided the following tips for people experiencing power outages: Report your power outage and receive updates online or on their app Be prepared if the power goes out Follow them on social media Stay at least 25 feet away from downed linesIts about time to watch on your time.
