You may have recently read in The Park Record about Caitlin and Cobus Van Den Berg, the Midway couple who completed the Tahoe 200 this summer. They turned their extraordinary feat of mental and physical endurance into a fundraiser for Nuzzles Co., the rescue where they adopted animals of their own . By race day, their effort had raised more than $23,000 for the dogs and cats in our care. I want to thank Caitlin and Cobus, along with everyone who supported their remarkable effort. Their fundraiser is just one of many stories that remind me why I love working at Nuzzles. For more than 35 years, we’ve helped thousands of animals find loving homes, and every one of those adoptions began with someone in this community choosing to make a difference. This month, Nuzzles was honored as the Best Nonprofit in the 2026 Park Record readers’ poll. While our staff is incredibly proud of this recognition, the award truly belongs to our entire community of supporters: our donors, volunteers, fosters, adopters, partner nonprofits, and local businesses.
