Officials are responding to two gas leaks in Arlington reported Thursday afternoon, police said. According to the Arlington Police Department, one gas leak was reported at 2819 W. Park Row Drive shortly after 3 p.m. Police said motorists and pedestrians should avoid the area and use alternate routes if possible. According to Atmos Energy, the response is expected to last at least three hours and could take longer. According to Atmos Energy, the second leak occurred when a construction crew damaged a natural gas pipeline near 2226 Ridgedale Drive. Atmos said technicians shut off natural gas service to the area, and crews will remain on scene to make the necessary repairs. Several nearby residences were evacuated by emergency personnel as a precaution, Atmos officials said.
