A man who, allegedly, impersonated an FBI agent and attempted to conduct a “security check” of a Philadelphia supermarket has been charged, police said. On Thursday, the office of David Metcalf, the United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, announced charges against Seo k Joon Lee, 54, of Jenkintown, following an incident that happened on April 22, 2026 at a Philadelphia supermarket. Officials did not immediately provide additional details on which market in the city was involved in this incident. But, at that time, Metcalf’s office claimed, Lee entered a supermarket in Philadelphia while dressed in a bullet-proof vest, a “law enforcement-type” duty belt, a holstered firearm loaded with 13 rounds of ammunition, as well as carrying two additional magazines of ammunition. He then identified himself as an FBI agent to a store security guard and, Metcalf’s office said, Lee attempted to conduct a security check of the supermarket. However, when officers from the Philadelphia Police Department arrived at the scene, Metcalf’s office said, Lee told the officers that he was an “undercover FBI” agent and his credentials and FBI agent number could not be located elsewhere. Lee has been charged with impersonating a federal officer along with weapon offenses. He was later released after posting 10% of $150,000 bail.
