INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The historic Lane’s End estate in the Crow’s Nest neighborhood on the northwest side of Indianapolis is listed for $7,995,000. Built in 1928, the Tudor Revival home was originally constructed for Nicholas H. Noyes, an Eli Lilly and Co. executive a
nd philanthropist who played a significant role in the company’s growth and contributed widely to civic initiatives across Indiana.
The nearly 14,700-square-foot residence later became home to a prominent Indiana automotive entrepreneur and their family. Over the years, the home has been adapted for everyday living, featuring a large kitchen designed to feed more than 16 people and spacious rooms suited for family gatherings rather than formal occasions.
Terry O’Brien, one of 14 children raised in the home, described the library as the smallest room but the “biggest gathering place,” where birthdays, sporting events and family functions brought everyone together.
The property spans approximately 26.5 acres and includes meticulously maintained gardens, a flowing stream and a private pond. The estate has appeared in historical archives and local garden tours, underscoring its architectural and cultural importance to the Indianapolis community.
Charlene O’Brien, another of the children, recalled that their parents’ favorite spot was the screened-in porch, where they “loved to sit out here and watch the seasons change.”
Eileen O’Brien, the current listing agent and one of the children, said the dining room was reserved for special occasions. “This was not where we had our everyday dinner, but Thanksgiving, birthday dinners, anything special,” she said. “Obviously, it’s not big enough for our family, so it was quite the event if you could actually sit in this room during the meal.” She added that the family “would just linger in here for hours after a meal.”
The estate is located at 5625 Sunset Lane in Indianapolis, with parking available along the driveway. For more information, visit c21scheetz.com.
