A pedestrian died Tuesday after a pickup truck struck him in New Castle, Delaware, according to Delaware State Police. According to police, the crash occurred on Monday, July 20, at 2:50 p.m. on Christiana Road. Officials said a Nissan Titan was traveling westbound on Christiana Road when it s truck a man in a wheelchair who was crossing Christiana Road in the crosswalk from Pleasant Place toward Scottie Lane. According to police, preliminary investigation determined that the Nissan had a green light signal when the pedestrian entered its path and was struck. The man, identified as 63-year-old William Collins, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died the following day, police said. The driver of the Nissan, a 39-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was not injured in the crash. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash.
