A pedestrian died Tuesday after a pickup truck struck him in New Castle, Delaware, according to Delaware State Police. According to police, the crash occurred on Monday, July 20, at 2:50 p.m. on Christiana Road. Officials said a Nissan Titan was traveling westbound on Christiana Road when it s truck a man in a wheelchair who was crossing Christiana Road in the crosswalk from Pleasant Place toward Scottie Lane. According to police, preliminary investigation determined that the Nissan had a green light signal when the pedestrian entered its path and was struck. The man, identified as 63-year-old William Collins, was taken to a hospital with life-threatening injuries and died the following day, police said. The driver of the Nissan, a 39-year-old man from Newark, Delaware, was not injured in the crash. The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this crash. Investigators are asking anyone with video footage or information relevant to the crash to contact Corporal D. McKenna at (302) 365-8486.
