ites, according to the company.
The investment expands Corridor Ventures’ portfolio of AI, advanced manufacturing and infrastructure technologies.
New Orleans-based Corridor Ventures has invested in Atlanta technology company Carbice, a developer of advanced thermal management technology for semiconductors, as demand for artificial intelligence computing and data center capacity continues to grow.
The early-stage venture capital firm announced the investment July 21, saying it aligns with its strategy of backing deep-tech companies developing solutions to infrastructure challenges across the Southeast.
According to Corridor Ventures, Carbice’s carbon nanotube-based thermal management technology improves heat transfer at the chip level, helping reduce heat generated by servers. The company said the technology can lower water consumption and operating costs for data centers, where cooling has become an increasingly significant challenge as AI workloads expand.
“Carbice is solving a real bottleneck in AI infrastructure,” said Kwamena Aidoo, co-founder and managing partner of Corridor Ventures. “As compute demand grows, cooling, not power, is becoming the limiting factor. Carbice’s technology offers a scalable, commercially proven solution to one of the most pressing challenges facing data centers globally.”
Carbice said its technology is already deployed commercially in products including laptops, servers and satellites. Founder and CEO Baratunde Cola has spent more than 15 years developing the underlying technology and the past six years building the company.
“A digital, AI-driven future cannot escape the laws of thermodynamics, and Corridor’s investment in Carbice is a testament to the progress we’ve made in scaling our thermal solutions,” Cola said. “Their expertise in supporting hardware-focused companies will help us accelerate production at the world’s largest aligned carbon nanotube facility to meet growing demand across data centers, defense, and space.”
Corridor Ventures said the investment expands its portfolio of companies focused on AI infrastructure, utilities and advanced manufacturing while reinforcing its emphasis on capital-efficient technologies with large-scale commercial applications.
Headquartered in New Orleans, Corridor Ventures invests in early-stage companies across the U.S. Southeast. Carbice, based in Atlanta, develops thermal management materials designed to improve heat dissipation in semiconductors, supporting more efficient and sustainable computing infrastructure.
