A man was critically injured Monday morning after he was struck by a vehicle driven by an off-duty San Francisco police officer, according to the San Francisco Police Department. Police said the collision happened at about 7:04 a.m. near Card Alley and Emery Lane. According to SFPD, the off-du ty officer was driving a personal vehicle when it struck an adult man in the roadway. Police said the driver immediately stopped and called emergency responders. Additional officers arrived and rendered aid to the man before San Francisco Fire Department personnel arrived. Paramedics transported the man to a hospital, where he was listed in critical condition. The San Francisco Police Department’s Traffic Collision Investigation Unit is leading the investigation.
