Jaywalking Incident Eventually Leads to Lincoln Man’s Arrest on Other Offenses

LINCOLN–(KFOR July 20)–Lincoln Police early Monday morning arrested a 45-year-old man for several offenses, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, after an incident where
he crossed the street illegally between two marked crosswalks in the area of 27th and “N” Street.
It was just after 3:30am Monday, where an officer saw Ramon Enriquez, Jr. in all black clothing jaywalking. LPD public information manager Erika Thomas says when the officer contacted Enriquez, he apparently got argumentative and wouldn’t comply with any requests. Enriquez then took off, throwing his cellphone and a handgun onto the ground. Thomas says an officer fired his taser and hit Ramon Enriquez, Jr., where officers found several knives in his pockets and a glass pipe with meth residue.
After being checked out at the hospital, Enriquez was taken to jail and arrested for possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, tampering with physical evidence, possession of a controlled susbstance and obstructing a police officer.
