Philadelphia police investigate separate stabbing, shooting overnight

Philadelphia police are investigating two separate overnight violent incidents that left one man in critical condition and a teenager injured.
Police said the first incident happened around 11:46 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026. Officers responded to West Seymour Street after receiving a report of
a person with a gun after a woman called 911 to report that her son had been shot.
Responding officers found a 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to his left hand and secured the shooting scene in a second-floor bedroom, according to police. Officers took the boy to a nearby hospital, where he was listed in stable condition.
No arrests have been made, and no motive has been determined in this incident.

Police said the next incident happened around 1:59 a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2026, on the 2800 block of Trenton Avenue. Officers responded to a report of a stabbing and found an adult man suffering from stab wounds.
Police transported the man to a nearby hospital, where he is now listed in critical condition.
No arrests have been made, and no motive has been found, according to police.
