The San Francisco Fire Department has a new fire engine thanks to a donation from Pacific Gas and Electric Company. SFFD and PGE announced the donation during a news conference Thursday. Fire officials said the new engine will respond to structure fires, wildfires, rescue operations and other natural disasters. Following the announcement, SFFD and PGE held a joint training exercise on Treasure Island to improve coordination and safety during electrical incidents, such as the December blackout caused by an equipment fire at a PGE substation.
