A woman has been hospitalized in critical condition, police said, after she was struck by a hit-and-run driver as she exited her vehicle to check for damage following an earlier crash on I-95 on Wednesday night. According to Pennsylvania State Police officials, the incident happened at about 10: 36 p.m., shortly after a 37-year-old woman, from Clifton Heights, exited her red Chrysler 300C after she lost control in a crash and struck a median, disabling her vehicle in the left lane of southbound I-95 in the area of an exit for the Walt Whitman Bridge. As she exited her vehicle to check for damage following the initial crash, police said she was struck by a driver who fled the scene, headed southbound on I-95. The impact threw the woman into the middle-right lane, officials said. Officials said the roadway was shut down for a period on Wednesday night as crews worked at the scene and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital where she was listed in critical condition. Police did not immediately provide a description of the driver or vehicle that struck the woman in this hit-and-run incident. But, officials said, an investigation is ongoing. Officials are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact the Pennsylvania State Police’s Criminal Investigation Unit at 215-452-5216. ...read more read less
