In this incident, police said, two men — one armed with a knife — broke into a home at about 3:30 a.m. and located a homeowner, who was in his 80s, and began punching him in the face.
During the attack, police said, the men demanded to know the location of “gold coins.”
Following the initial attack, the homeowner told police, the men dragged him upstairs where he saw his wife, also in her 80s, lying on the floor with a bag over her head, officials said.
Investigators said the man was told not to move or the attackers would kill his wife.
Eventually, the pair fled the scene with about $5,000 worth of gold and currency, officials said.
Follow up investigation that included a review of surveillance footage, cell phone data and other evidence led police to track down and charge Sanabria, investigators said, after determining that he may have been involved in this incident.
He was charged June 23, 2026 and apprehended in Philadelphia on July, 8, 2026, police said.
Sanabria is being held in Philadelphia as he awaits extradition to New Jersey.
An investigation into this incident is still ongoing and a second suspect is still being sought.
Police are asking anyone with information on this incident to contact Detective Ryan Durham of the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit at 856-225-5127 and Detective Connor Collins of the Collingswood Police Department at 856-854-1901.
