Newly renovated basketball courts at a San Jose park were damaged by what appears to be illegal fireworks, the city said Monday. The city was set to hold a ribbon-cutting event for the renovated courts at Plata Arroyo Park, but that celebration has been put on hold while the city assesses the dam age and determines next steps. “Our teams worked hard to bring these courts back for the community,” San Jose Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services said in a post on social media. “Seeing them damaged before they could even be celebrated is incredibly disappointing.” Anyone with information about the damage is asked to email [email protected]. ...read more read less
