Park City High School showcased the progress being made on the construction of its new athletics facilities during a tour for the media on Wednesday.  Principal Caleb Fine, Superintendent Lyndsay Huntsman and construction project manager JD Simmons walked media members through the upgrades bein g made to Dozier Field and the new fields being constructed on the site of the old Treasure Mountain Junior High School. Soil dug up in construction at the old Treasure Mountain Junior High School site has been the center of recent discussion. Dozier Field is receiving a new track, bleachers, locker rooms, speaker system, press boxes, concession stands and bathrooms. There are two mixed-use soccer and lacrosse fields, a softball field, baseball field and eight tennis courts being constructed at the old site of Treasure Mountain Junior High School. It will be the first time the high school has had tennis courts of their own. Dozier Field upgrades will include new bleachers, press boxes, a new track, bathrooms, concession stands, equipment storage areas and a new speaker system. Football, girls soccer and girls tennis would be the fall sports affected by the construction should it not finish in time for their home openers.  “As long as they can run the scoreboard, the clocks and we can have an announcer up there doing his thing, we’re good,” said Park City Head Football Coach Dennis Cunningham. “As long as we get everything done, we’re going to rock and roll on Aug. 28.” Park City is scheduled to take on Morgan in their football home opener on Aug. 28.  Park City High School is working on adding new baseball and softball fields, two mixed-use lacrosse and soccer fields and eight tennis courts on the site of the old Treasure Mountain Junior High School. The 2026 spring sports teams like boys and girls lacrosse and boys soccer had to play games at the fields at Quinn’s Junction while construction was going on. Many of the fall and spring sports teams like girls soccer, football and boys and girls lacrosse often compete for field time at Dozier Field and the fields at Quinn’s Junction.  “We talk about the foundation of a championship athletic program,” Fine said. “It’s really not about wins and losses. It’s about character development, communication and developing leaders and athletes for life. We believe this is part of that championship framework, and if we win more region and state championships because of it, we’re not going to complain.” Park City High School officials like Principal Caleb Fine and Superintendent Lyndsay Huntsman are thrilled with the upgrades, believing they will elevate the experience for all their students. Park City won 47 state championships in sports that use fields and a track before the upgrades. However, the long, snowy winters and lack of field space have forced kids to miss time in the classroom to travel for sports.  “It’ll minimize the amount of classroom time that they’re missing,” Huntsman said. “They’re being checked out at 12:30 or 1 p.m., whereas if we’re able to play more home games during the spring season, they’re not having to be checked out. … We’re super excited to have these come online and provide this to not only our student-athletes, but the greater Park City community.” The Park City girls soccer home opener is scheduled for Aug. 20 against Highland. The Park City School District estimates the total cost of the upgrades to be $48.7 million when finished. Dozier Field’s new bleachers will house locker rooms, bathrooms and mixed-use space.
