Days of extreme, dangerous heat to settle over tristate through Thursday
Jul 14, 2026
Another heat wave in the tri-state will begin Tuesday, as temperatures top 90 degrees and heat indices flirt with 100. A heat advisory will go into effect area-wide at noon Tuesday.
Temperatures on Tuesday will top out in the mid 90s for most away from shore areas. The heat index will be in t
he upper 90s.
Wednesday will be the hottest day of the week, with highs very close to 100 and feels like temperatures above 100.
In Central and South Jersey, where the heat index could climb to between 105 and 110 degrees Wednesday afternoon, an Extreme Heat Watch is in effect.
Thursday will be another hot one, but not quite as hot as Wednesday. Temperatures will again reach the low to mid 90s, ensuring that this week’s heat fits the criteria of a heat wave: three days in a row at or above 90 degrees. It would be the second heat wave of the summer.
The heat will taper off into the weekend. Highs on Saturday and Sunday will only reach the low 80s, but with the more comfortable temperatures comes an increased chance for afternoon and evening showers and storms.
