INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Central Indiana braces for heat indices close to 100 degrees by Wednesday.
Strong Ridge Drives Heat
A hot dome of air will settle in over the northern portions of the country – but still close enough to bring in the heat for us
here in central Indiana. Highs will surge to the lower 90s later this afternoon, and push into the middle 90s by the middle of the week.
Northeast Winds Keep Humidity Low
Unlike previous heat waves, northeast winds will limit moisture flowing into the area through Wednesday morning, so we won’t be nearly as muggy as our past heat wave.
Spotty Southern Showers Possible
An upper-level low to the south drifts westward, keeping most of central Indiana dry. A few isolated showers or storms might pop up in far southern counties but chances remain low through the end of the week.
Weekend Rain Chances?
A weak system moving in could squeeze out a few showers and storms across the state this weekend, but chances should remain very isolated. Meanwhile we should cool temperatures back down to the mid 80s- more seasonable for this time of year.
