Thousands of people participated in “One City Day,” a community event where volunteers are invited to serve San Francisco. Multiple service projects were hosted in over 200 locations in the city, where approximately 3,500 people showed up to give back to the community. A volunteer says th e area looked pretty clean already, but it made sense to help. Service activities ranged from picking up trash from the streets to making toys for shelter animals. Mayor Daniel Lurie said that his wife, Becca, came up with the idea to start One City Day because of her commitment to volunteer work.
