I am submitting for your consideration a response to the “Reality Check” letter to the editor from July 8:  Thank you, Ceylan, for showing up, for walking, and for sharing your experience so honestly. I’ve loved Park City and have been enjoying the Fourth of July parade for decades. It reflects the spirit of a community I deeply value and am proud to be part of. As I read your letter, I found myself wishing that my dog and I had been standing next to that vocal onlooker, because I would have calmly said, “The American flag and the rainbow flag absolutely belong together — they represent freedom, dignity and the right to be seen.” Pride and parade are not so different.  The “I” in pride can stand for inclusion, and the two “A’s” in parade can reflect acceptance and appreciation.
