Trash issue persists at Woodland ManorA week since 2 News Oklahoma's first report on the issue, Cynthia Keener called us back to let us know that the dumpsters still weren't returned."This is a senior complex, where is the justice for the seniors?" said Keener.Owner Marc Kulick told 2 News on July 3 the dumpsters were removed due to a change in waste management vendors. "In the normal course of business we sometimes change vendors. This past week we had a vendor transition for our waste management. We did order large temporary roll offs to help facilitate the transition. As we understand some of the enclosures have accumulated errant trash, so throughout the weekend we will have vendors cleaning the enclosures. We understand this process has caused unncessary stress for our residents. We sincerely understand the concerns but we are fully committed to making this transition as seamless as possible. I remain readily available for anyone who lives at any of our communities with questions, comments or concerns and can be reached at [email protected]."Theyre not telling us anything, theyre not changing anything, theyre not telling us, but theyre taking our rent," said Keener. With no dumpsters, Keener said the red containers filled up quickly and now they're overflowing too. So, the problem is back, with neighbors dropping their trash in the vacant dumpster enclosures. There are a lot of people in this complex that do not drive," she said. "They cant walk to those red containers, so I dont know what to do, none of us do.While 2 News spoke to Keener, we did see crews picking up trash and dropping it off in the large red containers. But as the trash continues to mount there, Keener said she's waiting for someone to intervene. And while they don't, she said she has to speak up."I feel like somebody needs to have a voice to stand up for these people because its really aggravating and frustrating to see them suffer," she said. "Its not right. I dont think its right. When asked where the dumpsters are now, Kulick said there is an issue with American Waste returning the dumpsters and they are actively looking for a new vendor.Over in Jenks, two Vesta-owned properties were declared a nuisance by the city. Deputy Chief of Police Melissa Brown said the same large red dumpsters were brought to Thrive and 727 Lofts, and because they don't meet safety code with no lid, they need to be removed.Brown said the Jenks gave Vesta until 2:30 on July 10 to remove the dumpsters or they would do it for them for a fine. Brown updated 2 News that afternoon that the city was going to be removing them, because Vesta did not do it themselves.Because of the nuisance emergency, Deputy Chief Brown said the city replaced the missing dumpsters at Thrive and 727 Lofts and will pay for them to stay until Vesta resolves the issue.Stay in touch with us anytime, anywhere -- 2 News Oklahoma on your schedule | Download on your TV, watch for free.
