The Level 2 (SET) evacuation for the Martin Fire east of Bellevue has been lifted after firefighters made progress on the wildfire.The Blaine County Sheriff's Office announced Friday morning that the evacuation status was lifted effective 10:30 a.m. Residents are still encouraged to remain aware of changing conditions.The fire was reported around 5:23 p.m. Thursday in Martin Canyon off Muldoon Canyon Road east of Bellevue. Strong winds pushed the fire rapidly through Martin Canyon and toward Slaughterhouse Canyon, where it burned through tall grass and sagebrush.Firefighters from Blaine County Fire and Rescue, the Sun Valley, Bellevue and Carey fire departments responded alongside the Bureau of Land Management. A unified command was established, with the BLM leading suppression efforts using engines and aircraft while local crews protected nearby areas.Officials said an individual has come forward and taken responsibility for starting the fire while setting off fireworks.
