A man believed to be behind over 30 commercial burglaries in the Bay Area has been arrested, San Jose police announced Thursday.
Police identified the suspect as 47-year-old San Jose resident Jonathan Bynum. He allegedly committed burglaries at local restaurants and coffee shops and frequently us
ed an electric scooter as his mode of transportation during the crimes, police said.
San Jose detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Bynum on April 30 for a commercial burglary committed in the South Bay city. Authorities did not find Bynum at his home when serving a search warrant, but they did discover numerous pieces of evidence directly linking him to multiple burglaries, police said.
On June 29, Santa Clara police located and arrested Bynum in San Jose as part of one of their investigations. He was booked into the Santa Clara County Main Jail for burglary, police said.
“This arrest highlights the importance of the coordinated efforts between our Detectives and the Santa Clara Police Department,” San Jose police said in a statement. “An individual suspected of committing burglaries in multiple cities was taken into custody and is no longer on city streets. Working together across jurisdictions enhances the safety of all our neighborhoods.”
