The water main break was reported around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday at 5300 El Cajon Boulevard, when multiple sinkholes opened and water rushed into the street. El Cajon Boulevard is closed in both directions between 54th and 53rd Street. Four businesses, one apartment complex and one fire hydrant are without water. Those impacted can receive water from a water wagon at Marcellena Villas in the 4400 block of Marcellena Road, the city said. How El Cajon Boulevard looked Wednesday night after the water main break. “We’re actively working to get that repaired, hoping to get things cleared up by mid-afternoon,” said Jose Ysea, City of San Diego spokesperson. Ysea says it looks like a 16-inch polyethylene pipe burst, and crews are working to get it repaired. “At first I thought a fire hydrant broke, but when we came out here we saw the street broken and water coming out,” said Daniel Gomez, a resident in the area.
