A chauffer is recovering after he was shot by a teen robber in Philadelphia’s East Germantown neighborhood on Wednesday, according to police and the victim’s family member. The shooting occurred around noon on the 900 block of East Price Street. A car service driver was called to the location to pick up a passenger. When the driver arrived, he was approached by a teenager between the ages of 16 and 18, police said. The driver’s daughter told NBC10 the teen asked her father for change from a $20 bill. According to the daughter, the driver told the teen he didn’t have any change. Police said the teen initially opened the back passenger door of the driver’s vehicle before closing it and moving to the front passenger door. The teen then announced a robbery and pulled out a blue handgun, according to investigators. As the driver tried to get out of the vehicle and run away, the teen fired a shot and struck the victim in the chest, according to police. While police said nothing was stolen during the incident, the victim’s daughter told NBC10 the teen stole money from her father as well as a tablet before fleeing the scene. The taxi driver spoke with responding police officers and is currently in stable condition. No arrests have been made. Police described the suspect as a thin and clean-shaven teenager between the ages of 16 and 18. He was last seen wearing a red and black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said. Police continue to investigate.
