An evacuation order underway after Pipeline Fire starts near Camp Pendleton
Jul 06, 2026
An evacuation order is underway for an area called 32 Area, after the Pipeline Fire started on U.S. Marine Corps base Camp Pendleton on Monday.
The brush fire started at about 2:10 p.m. and has now burned at least 1,065 acres.
The fire appeared to be in an area of the base that is mostly grass
land, and the base’s fire personnel were the responding agency. The fire was sending a plume of smoke south toward Oceanside.
Just before 3 p.m., the USMC ordered the evacuations for 32 Area. It was not immediately clear how many individuals and buildings were affected by the order. No off-base areas were under evacuation alerts.
An evacuation shelter was put in place at Paige Field House.
North County communities are also under a smoke advisory, after winds carried the smoke over to the east and northeast of the fire. Affected communities include, Fallbrook, Pala, Valley Center and Oceanside.
County officials said if you are near any of these areas and smell smoke, it is advised to limit any outdoor activity due to air quality levels.
