PARKERSBURG, Ind. (WISH) — A crash between a pickup and a dump truck early Monday morning resulted in the death of a Crawfordsville man, investigators say. The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office says the initial call for the crash at the intersection of U.S. 231 South and Spring Road cam e in just after 6:30 a.m. First reports of the crash indicated a pickup truck crashed into a tri-axle dump truck, and the dump truck was on fire. After collecting statements from the scene, deputies say the dump truck was heading north on U.S. 231. For an unknown reason, a GMC Sierra pickup truck driving south on 231 entered the northbound lane, hitting the dump truck. The collision forced both vehicles off the road; the dump truck eventually caught fire after stopping against a power pole. The driver of the GMC, identified as 52-year-old Kyle Blaydes of Crawfordsville, died at the scene. The dump truck driver, a 55-year-old man also from Crawfordsville, was unharmed. The sheriff’s office says the investigation was ongoing as of Monday afternoon. Anyone with information was asked to contact Det. Kirby with the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office at 765-362-3740. ...read more read less
