DENVER Authorities are investigating after Denver police shot and wounded a man who they said threatened officers with a knife in the Globeville neighborhood Sunday.Police said the suspect was transported to the hospital in unk nown condition. No officers were injured.The shooting occurred in the 700 block of E. 51st Avenue after police responded to the area on a report of a man harassing people.When officers arrived on scene, they found the man holding a knife.Denver Police Chief Ron Thomas said officers gave him several commands to drop the knife, but he did not comply and took off running.Officers followed him on foot, and at one point, the man stopped, turned around, and began moving toward officers with the knife in hand, according to Thomas.Thomas said one officer opened fire, striking the man multiple times.He was transported to the hospital, where his condition remains unknown.Thomas said the man frequents the area and his officers have been called to the area in the past related to the mans harassing behavior.An investigation into the police shooting will be conducted by members of the Colorado Highway Patrol and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation. ...read more read less
