After nearly a week of stifling heat, temperatures are finally coming down for the tri-state. Our weather threat, however, is not completely over. The extreme heat finally broke after a second night of severe storms whipped through our area. As of Sunday morning, some 300,000 utility customers w ere without power across New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. While the worst of the heat is now behind us, Sunday remains very muggy outside. Parts of New Jersey remain under a heat advisory for index values in the 90s to close the weekend. The final day of the weekend also brings a third straight day of storms. Storm Team 4 says more storms follow Sunday afternoon and evening, with a chance for severe winds. Plus, waves of heavy rain overnight into Monday could cause a significant flood threat.
