After another dangerously hot and humid day, storms disrupted 4th of July events and caused damage throughout the Philly region.
In Chester County, police confirmed there was a water rescue in the reservoir at Marsh Creek State Park, and there were other roads closed due to downed trees and w
ires.
NBC10’s David Charns was on the scene for the water rescue just after 10 p.m. to find that the operation was ongoing. Firefighters later said that two were rescued from the water, but one person remains missing in the water.
The storms were also causing some delays and cancelations due to storms. The Lansdale/Doylestown line was suspended due to downed trees and wires, but has since resumed, SEPTA said.
The Paoli/Thorndale line remains suspended between Malvern and Thorndale due to mechanical issues.
‘The tree is south of the Penllyn Station, so we had to suspend service on the Lansdale/Doylestown Line. There is also an Amtrak power issue that has the Paoli/Thorndale Line suspended,” SEPTA spokesperson Andrew Busch told NBC10 earlier on Saturday.
As of 10:30 p.m., there were more than 50,000 PECO customers without power, according to their outage tracker. Just before midnight, that number was down to around 42,000.
The outages come as PECO workers, including linemen, gas technicians, mechanics and call center workers, are on strike.
Less than 5% of AC Electric’s customers are without power in South Jersey, according to their tracker.
NBC10’s Miguel Martinez-Valle was on the Ben Franklin Parkway when the “One Philly: Unity Concert for America” was paused and concertgoers were asked to leave.
