A Delaware woman working at a child care facility was charged with child abuse after it was discovered she grabbed a boy by his neck, according to the Delaware State Police.
Investigators started an invest
igation in April of 2026 when a mother saw bruising on her son’s wrist so she took him for medical treatment, police said.
The investigation led detectives to the Delaware Technical Community College Stanton Childhood Development Center on the 400 block of Stanton-Christiana Road in Newark, officials reported.
There, detectives said they uncovered that an employee – identified as Neha Gour, 46 – picked up the 3-year-old boy by his neck and placed him in a chair.
The child cried because of what happened and grabbed at his neck which led Gour to then grab him by the wrist to pull him into another part of the classroom, police said.
An arrest warrant was issued for Gour’s arrest and she turned herself into police on June 30, officials said.
Gour was charged with a felony child abuse third degree charge and arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court.
Gour was “released on her own recognizance,” police said.
