  Briscoe Offering $2.50 Admission in Honor of America’s 250th on July 4th       The Briscoe Western Art Museum offering $2.50 admission in honor of America’s 250th on July 4th and free entry for locals on July 5th.   In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and Independence Day week end, the Briscoe Western Art Museum is inviting visitors to experience the art, history and culture of the American West for just $2.50 admission on Saturday, July 4. On Sunday, July 5, San Antonio and Bexar County residents can also take advantage of the museum’s popular Locals Day, featuring family-friendly activities, educational programming and special opportunities to explore the Briscoe’s exhibitions and permanent collection. Combined with Bank of America Museums on Us and the museum’s participation in Blue Star Museums, the weekend offers multiple ways for visitors to experience the Briscoe at a reduced cost or free of charge. The special admission offer provides an opportunity for families, visitors and residents alike to explore the Briscoe’s exhibitions and enjoy a full weekend of family-friendly activities along the San Antonio River Walk.     Visitors can experience Selena Forever / Siempre Selena, the museum’s special exhibition featuring monumental photographs by acclaimed San Antonio photographer John Dyer. Widely regarded as the most complete and comprehensive exhibition of large-scale Selena portraits ever presented, the exhibition includes iconic images, never-before-seen boutique photographs, magazine covers and ephemera celebrating the life, artistry and enduring cultural legacy of the beloved Tejana icon. “As we celebrate Independence Day and commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, the Briscoe offers a unique opportunity to explore the people, cultures and traditions that shaped the American West,” said Liz Jackson, President and CEO of the Briscoe Western Art Museum. “We’re proud to make the museum more accessible during this special weekend through our Fourth of July admission offer, Museums on Us, Blue Star Museums and year-round programs that help ensure everyone can experience the art, history and culture of the American West.”     Double the Fun on Locals Day Sunday, July 5 also marks the Briscoe’s monthly Locals Day, offering special programming and activities included with museum admission. Families can participate in: Full STEAM Ahead, 1 – 3 p.m., the museum’s hands-on educational program combining art, history and science Scout the Briscoe, an interactive museum scavenger hunt designed to help visitors of all ages discover the stories and treasures found throughout the galleries. The activities are included with admission and provide engaging opportunities for children and families to learn together while exploring the museum.       Free Admission for Families Through Blue Star Museums The Briscoe is also proud to participate in the Blue Star Museums program, offering free admission to active-duty military personnel and their families through Labor Day. Presented in partnership with the National Endowment for the Arts and Blue Star Families, the nationwide initiative provides military families with complimentary access to museums across the country. Eligible visitors can enjoy the Briscoe’s exhibitions, including Selena Forever / Siempre Selena, as well as family-friendly programs and the museum’s permanent collection at no cost.         Museums on Us Returns July 4 and 5 Bank of America cardholders can also take advantage of the bank’s popular Museums on Us program on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5, receiving free admission to the Briscoe by presenting a Bank of America, Merrill or Bank of America Private Bank credit or debit card and a valid photo ID.
