The campaign encourages South Dakotans to take simple steps towar

A free virtual event will be held on July 10 at 10 a.m. CDT, featuring guest speakers and practical strategies for managing and preventing chronic conditions. To register, visit extension.sdstate.edu/events and search “chronic.”
“Small steps can ignite big change,” said Samantha Christensen, SDSU Extension Program Volunteer Coordinator. “This campaign is about bringing people together across South Dakota to support healthier communities.”
New this year, participants can also join an optional virtual 5K challenge during the week of July 5–11, with walking and walk/run training plans available.
Organizers will offer additional ways for individuals and communities to get involved in the week leading up to the event. Activities may include movement challenges, healthy recipes, wellness education, community engagement efforts and opportunities to connect with local resources.
Community members are encouraged to mark their calendars, register for the event, participate in the Virtual 5K and follow along throughout the campaign. Official “605 Igniting Change” T-shirts are also available for purchase to help spread the campaign statewide.
